A Pair of Native American Stone Grinding Tools Comprising a Mortar and Pestle - A Native American stone grinding set consisting of a mortar and a matching pestle. The mortar base is formed from a large, irregularly shaped cobble of fine-grained sedimentary or metamorphic stone with a tan-to-buff color. It features a single, deep, circular depression with a smoothed and polished interior surface. The exterior of the mortar shows natural weathering and texture. The pestle is a handheld, elongated stone with a tapered shape, crafted from a speckled dark grey and green igneous or metamorphic rock. It features a rounded upper end and a broader, flattened working end showing signs of wear consistent with grinding and pounding. No maker marks or inscriptions are present on either piece. Measurements: Mortar: approximately 11.5 inches in length. Burns in-house shipping is available.
