Devonian Period Brachiopod Fossil Colony Stone and a Collection of Botanical Fragments - This lot features a large sedimentary rock specimen containing a colony of fossilized brachiopod molds, likely from the Devonian period. The stone, composed of sandstone or siltstone, displays a granular texture and a brownish-tan patina. The upper surface contains approximately a group of distinct circular and oval depressions which represent the natural molds left by ancient marine organisms, such as Schizophoria or Mucrospirifer, common in prehistoric seafloor deposits. Included with the fossil is a clear cylindrical glass jar featuring a blue plastic lid with the Rexall brand name in stylized script. The jar contains a collection of small, flat, green fragments. These variegated pieces exhibit dark green edges and light green or white centers, appearing to be dried botanical segments from a succulent or similar plant. A small lithic chip is also present among the loose contents of the jar. Stone: 11.5 x 8 x 4 inches Fragments: 0.25 to 0.75 inches. Burns in-house shipping is available.
