A Collection of Ohio Midget Car Racing Type I Original Photographs and Negatives by Smiths Racing Photos - This collection consists of Type I original black and white silver gelatin photographs documenting the 1960 midget car racing season across various venues in Ohio. Produced by Smiths Racing Photos of Columbus, Ohio, the images primarily capture victory lane scenes, trophy presentations, and group shots of racing officials. Drivers identified through handwritten notations include Nick Wilhelm, Bob Harris, Willie Wildwerth, Pete Miller, Paul Hooper, Amos Waddel, Bill Hawley, Weller Weldhaber, Buckey Sager, Parnell Sherer, and Frederick Comrey. Geographic locations featured include the Wilmington Fair, Springfield, Ottawa Ohio Fair, Xenia, Marion Fair, and Dayton. The reverse of photographs bears the professional stamp of W. H. Smith and frequently references the Central States Racing Association (CSRA). Each photograph includes a handwritten white identification label on the front margin detailing the driver, location, and date. of the photographs are accompanied by their original brown glassine-style negative envelopes containing the original film negatives. These original sleeves contain extensive notes about the contained photo and/or negative, including order numbers, heat information, and specific dates. Any newer manilla envelopes included were used for organization and typically feature location and date information. x 10 inches each. Pickup is Wednesday, April 22 from 10 am to 3 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
