** Savage Ranger Model 101.16 Semi-Automatic Rifle .22 Long Rifle with 24 Inch Barrel - This is a semi-automatic rimfire rifle manufactured by Savage for Montgomery Ward under the Ranger house brand, specifically the Model 101.16. Chambered for .22 Long Rifle, this firearm is a variant of the well-known Savage Model 6/Stevens Model 87 series, often referred to as a gill gun due to the distinctive horizontal cooling vents on the left side of the receiver. The rifle features a 24-inch blued barrel equipped with a tubular magazine and standard open iron sights. The receiver is also blued and is mounted in a one-piece wood stock featuring a Monte Carlo-style comb with a raised cheekpiece and a textured black plastic buttplate. The trigger guard is finished in a contrasting silver tone. Prominent markings include the caliber designation on the barrel, CAL. 22 LONG RIFLE SMOKELESS GREASED ONLY, along with RANGER 101.16 and PATENTS PENDING on the receiver. This firearm does not have a serial number, which is consistent with its pre-1968 manufacturing date, and it is classified as Curio and Relic eligible.
