A Collection of 19th-Century Tintype Portraits and Civil War Related Ephemera - A collection of 19th-century tintype portraits and associated historical ephemera. The group includes several tintypes of men and women, notably one featuring a seated woman in a patterned dress holding a small framed portrait of a soldier. The lot contains decorative gold-toned brass frames and mats, along with two partial leatherette-covered photographic cases, one of which retains a purple velvet liner. Accompanying the photographs is a modern reproduction of a Civil War soldier and a handwritten note on lined paper. The note provides historical service details for Jesse Hildebrand of Palmer Township, identifying him as a second lieutenant in the 77th Regiment, Company A, who volunteered in October 1862 and resigned on January 23, 1864.
