A Collection of Late 19th to Mid-20th Century African American Photographs and Ephemera - This collection documents African American life through various photographic processes and ephemera. The lot includes albumen or silver gelatin prints on card mounts, silver gelatin snapshots, a hand-tinted convex portrait, and color C-prints. Subjects range from formal family and child portraits to rural farm landscapes and a large-format matted portrait of a man in a tuxedo and top hat. The collection also contains two mid-century postcards with caricatured illustrations; one is signed Vernon Jones and the other is printed with the mark © CURT TEICH & CO., INC. Framing consists of an oval convex portrait in a decorative lacquered frame, a small modern gilt-and-blue frame, and a simple black wooden frame. Several prints remain on their original card mounts. Dimensions: Ruler shown is 18 inches. Largest matted item is approximately 11 by 14 inches. Oval frame is approximately 12 by 8.5 inches. Pickup is Wednesday, April 22 from 10 am to 3 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
