A Collection of Late 19th and Early 20th Century American Ephemera Including Currier and Ives Lithograph - This collection consists of several pieces of American paper ephemera dating from the mid-19th century through the 1930s. The group includes a hand-colored lithograph by Currier and Ives titled A Line Shot - The Recoil, dated 1881. This piece is part of the Darktown series and bears the signature of artist Thomas Worth in the plate, with the publisher address of 115 Nassau St, New York. Also included is a 1935 newspaper clipping of the Henry comic strip by Carl Anderson, featuring three individual strips copyrighted by King Features Syndicate. The collection contains the front page of The Marietta Times from Marietta, Ohio, dated Wednesday, January 6, 1897, Volume 35, No. 13, published by B. J. McKinney. A mid-19th century wood engraving titled The Plantation Police, or Home Guard, Examining Negro Passes on the Levee Road, Below New Orleans, LA is present, featuring a descriptive paragraph regarding the plantation patrol system. The final item is a 1938 color art print titled Jes' Set Nat'chel, Sonny by artist Hy Hintermeister, depicting an older man, a child on a donkey, and a dog.
