1945 Cadaco-Ellis The Adventures of Little Black Sambo Board Games - This vintage mid-century board game is titled The Adventures of Little Black Sambo, published by Cadaco-Ellis of Chicago, Illinois. The game is based on the 1899 children's book by Helen Bannerman. The lot includes the original illustrated box lid, a folding game board, a square cardboard spinner, and one yellow wooden game piece. The game board features a lithographed paper surface with a colorful path illustrated with narrative milestones from the story, such as Meets 1st Tiger Loses Red Coat and Finds Tigers Melted to Butter. The box lid features a large illustration of the main character with a green umbrella and four tiger heads. The lid is printed with the text Designed and Developed In the Game and Toy Research Laboratory of Cadaco-Ellis. The bottom right corner of the board bears the mark Copyright 1945 Cadaco-Ellis Made in U.S.A. The cardboard spinner is marked 4197-X and features a metal arrow fastener.
