Bidspirit auction | Vintage Black Americana Chalkware Trio

Vintage Black Americana Chalkware Trio of Boys Eating Watermelon - This figural group, often associated with mid-century American folk art and carnival prizes, depicts a trio of African American boys positioned behind a rustic three-rail fence. Each figure is portrayed consuming a slice of watermelon. The boys are dressed in shirts of yellow, light blue, and black, paired with various styles of hats. The piece is constructed of hollow-cast chalkware and finished with a polychrome cold-paint application in shades of green, red, blue, and yellow. While similar examples are sometimes identified in the trade as the 1898 model group, no maker marks, factory stamps, or model numbers are visible on the exterior or interior surfaces of this specific item. 15 inches Width 12 inches Height.
