A Collection of Vintage African American History and Vocational Calendars, 1973-1991 - This collection of vintage wall calendars spans the years 1973 to 1991 and focuses on African American history and regional vocational training programs in Dayton, Ohio. The group includes two editions of The Great American Negro Calendar (1973 and 1975), both bearing the sponsor mark for Don's Pharmacy at 801 Lexington Avenue, Dayton. The 1973 edition features cover portraits of Sojourner Truth, Booker T. Washington, P.B.S. Pinchback, and others, with interior pages detailing the history of the Buffalo Soldiers. The 1975 edition features Jackie Robinson, Mahalia Jackson, and Ralph Bunche on the cover, with interior content regarding inventor Granville T. Woods. The 1979 Afro-American Historical Calendar, subtitled Brotherhood Through Understanding, was distributed by the Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company of Dayton and features portraits of figures such as Josephine Baker and Josh Gibson, with interior narratives including Mary Fields. The 1986-1987 Jobs to Careers Calendar was published by the Dayton Board of Education and the Montgomery County Board of Education, documenting vocational work-study programs at Wright Patterson Air Force Base with photographic spreads of local students. The 1991 America's Black Heritage Calendar, sponsored by Bowman Funeral Chapel, includes daily historical facts and an interior feature on author James Baldwin.
