A Collection of Vintage Black Americana Advertising and Novelty Items - This collection consists of several advertising and novelty items dating from the early to mid-20th century. The first item is a cardboard home movie film box for Amos 'n' Andy cartoons, produced by Official Films Inc. The box features caricatured illustrations of the title characters and is marked for film 237 Rasslin' Match. The second item is a celluloid-on-metal advertising pinback button for Nave & McCord Seeds, depicting a young girl with a watermelon slice and the text Satisfaction Guaranteed. The third item is a nickel-plated novelty alarm clock featuring a built-in dice game. The paper dial depicts a caricatured child and contains two loose dice behind the glass crystal. The reverse is stamped with U.S. Patent numbers 1563431 and 1709146, dating the design to the late 1920s. The fourth item is an Aunt Dinah fabric pincushion with its original illustrated cardboard box, copyrighted 1913 by Clara T. Perkins. The pincushion is formed as a head with a separate strawberry-shaped accessory, and the box lid features a poem and illustration.
