A Collection of Vintage Black Americana Folk Art Dolls and Hand Puppet - This collection features various examples of mid-20th-century American folk art and commercial toy manufacture. The assortment includes several cloth dolls, a composition jointed figure, and a hand puppet. One large female cloth doll features a red fabric headwrap, white button eyes, and a patterned cotton dress with a white apron accented by red rickrack trim. A tall male figure is constructed with a molded composition face and a cloth body, wearing a brown felt hat, plaid shirt with suspenders, and patched trousers while carrying a burlap-style bag. An all-composition jointed doll displays molded hair and painted features. Another male cloth doll is detailed with fuzzy fiber hair and a beard, painted eyes on felt backing, and a striped shirt with patched trousers. The collection also includes a hand puppet with a molded head and a red, blue, and white striped fabric body. No maker marks or manufacturer symbols are visible on any of the items. Heights range from approximately 7.5 inches to 13.5 inches. Hand puppet measures approximately 11 inches in length. Pickup is Wednesday, April 22 from 10 am to 3 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
