A Collection of Vintage Black Americana and Folk Art Dolls - This collection consists of an assortment of vintage dolls representing various folk art and manufacturing styles. A notable inclusion is a handmade figure by Madame Chapeaux of New Orleans, Louisiana, which retains its original fabric label on the reverse. This doll is constructed with a cloth body and a composition or painted fabric head, featuring a synthetic fiber beard and carrying a small wicker basket. The collection includes multiple all-cloth rag dolls, one dressed in a red bandana-print dress and headscarf, and another in a floral shirt and striped trousers. A mid-century child doll made of hard plastic or vinyl is included, featuring molded hair and plastic sleep eyes with eyelashes. The group also contains a composition or early hard plastic figure in indigenous-style attire, featuring a fur wig, fur garments, and multi-colored glass bead accessories. Two smaller cloth dolls are present, one with yarn braids and yellow ribbons, and the other in a plaid dress with a white apron. Heights range from approximately 6.5 inches to 11.5 inches. Pickup is Wednesday, April 22 from 10 am to 3 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
