A Pair of African American Portrait Enlargements, Late 19th to Early 20th Century - This pair of late 19th to early 20th-century portraits includes one hand-colored charcoal enlargement of a young man in formal dress and one toned photographic print, identified as a silver gelatin enlargement, depicting a woman and infant. Both portraits feature subjects of African descent. The portrait of the man is housed in a rectangular gilt-wood frame with decorative floral motifs and convex glass. The portrait of the woman and child is set in a large oval grain-painted wood frame with convex glass. No signatures, stamps, or edition numbers are visible on either piece. Oval frame: 22 inches high. Pickup is Wednesday, April 22 from 10 am to 3 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
