Ridgways and Staffordshire Transferware Items including Oriental Pattern Platters - The collection consists of pieces of 19th-century Staffordshire transferware pottery, predominantly earthenware, attributed primarily to Ridgways and related English makers. The collection includes large oval platters, one circular plate, and one miniature covered octagonal tureen set (comprising base, lid, and underplate). The platters are decorated in blue and white transfer printing, featuring various patterns. platters display dense floral and bird motifs consistent with the Ridgways Oriental pattern. The third platter features a detailed scenic landscape depicting a boat on river with structures and treeline borders. The circular plate is decorated in pink/red transferware with an exotic architectural scene and is marked PALESTINE on the reverse side. The miniature tureen set is decorated in dense blue and white floral transfer printing, with an applied floral finial on the lid. The underplate of the miniature tureen bears a modern cautionary mark printed in blue: FOR DECORATIVE USE ONLY NOT FOR FOOD USE ITEM MAY POISON FOOD. Burns in-house shipping is available. Pick up is Friday, Jan. 30 from Noon to 7 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
