CIVIL WAR GAR 4TH MICHIGAN CAVALRY TRANSFER CARD - G.A.R. Post Transfer Card issued Sept. 1,1886 to Private James Patterson, formerly of Company F, 4th Michigan Cavalry. The G.A.R. post transfer card certified the bearer was in good standing with his post and was recommended for admission into any other GAR Post.The card was void after one year. This particular ”card” - actually a paper document. measures 11.5” x 9.5”. Private Patterson, a resident of Raisin, Michigan, enlisted at Adrian on 9/28/1862 and was mustered out on 7/1/1865 at Nashville Tennessee. He was wounded 6/20/1864 at Lattimer's Mills, Georgia. The 4th Michigan Cavalry is best known for being the regiment that captured Confederate President Jefferson Davis on May 10, 1865 at Irwinville, Georgia. In-house shipping is available.
