The back top of the camera was originally stamped ”Luftwaffen Eigentum” (air force property). That designation was ground off after the war but it is still possible to see remnants of that deep stamping. Stamped around the lens, ”Carl Zeiss Jena Nr2514082 Biotar 1:2 f = 4cm. Interior is stamped F49658-6. The cameras were mounted on their airplanes for for reconnaissance or shoot control recording. They could also be handheld for reconnaissance purposes.
