WWII Nazi German State Service Flag with City of Stadtilm Unit Patch and G.I. Signatures - World War Two captured Nazi German State service flag with unit patch 2/234 STADTILM in the upper left corner. There are two faded but visible signatures on the corner eagle and swastika, most likely signed by the soldier(s) who took this flag from a building. This large 406 cm x 228cm (160 inches x 90 inches) flag would have hung from one of the Government offices in Stadtilm, Germany. This two sided flag is wool, multi piece construction with stitched multi piece center swastika, and separately applied corner eagle with mobile swastika and Stadtilm unit patch. The black outline of the corner eagle and swastika is embroidered using black thread. Both corner hooks are present and two smaller center hooks are also present. The hoist is reinforced at the upper corner and the fly end is reinforced along the entire length of the flag with extra reinforcement in one corner. The hoist end is looped to allow for passage of the rope. There are some small holes and two period repair patches. This is an incredibly well constructed flag. In-house shipping is available.
