WWII Nazi German 5th Panzer Division 31st Regiment Soldbuch Military Driver's License,, ID - World War Two Nazi German soldbuch, military driver's license, and motorcycle sports ID/permit identified to Rudolf Dietz. Soldbuch retains his photograph and is filled with entries including his being in a field hospital in Crete. The dated entries in this soldbuch range from March 1939 through January 6, 1945. His initial rank listed was Feldwebel with advancements to Oberfeldwebel May 1, 1941 and Stabsfeldwebel April 1, 1943. His military driver's license still retains his photograph and was issued on June 29, 1932 and renewed August 12, 1938. His National Identification Card for motorcycle sporting events was issued on June 14, 1937. During Dietz's time of service, the 5th Panzer Division, 31st Panzer Regiment participated in the Invasion of Poland, Battle of France, Battle of Belgium, Battle of Dunkirk, the Invasion of Yugoslavia and Greece, The German Invasion of the Soviet Union, Operation Barbarossa, Advance on Moscow. Throughout the rest of the war they continued to fight defensive battles in the Soviet Union, Poland, Courland and East Prussia. Throughout the fighting on the Eastern Front the division was seen as one of the best German units by their Soviet counterparts. Up until July 1944, when Operation Bagration caused the destruction of the German Army Group Center, the Soviet High Command advised against directly engaging the 5th Panzer Division if possible.
