WWII Nazi German Hoffmann Real Photo Postcards RPPC of Knight's Cross Recipients - World War Two Nazi German Real Photo postcard lot RPPC of four Hoffmann, Munich postcards featuring recipients of the Knight's cross of the Iron Cross. The postcards are war time period, not later reprints. Each card measures 5.5” x 3.5625” (13.97cm x 9.04cm) This lot features; 1. Helmut Wick - Luftwaffe Pilot & wing commander and the 4th recipient of the Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves. Wick participated in the Battles of France and Britain. He was shot down in the vicinity of the Isle of Wight on 28 November 1940, most likely by the British ace John Dundas. At the time of his death he had 56 aerial victories and was the leading German ace as of that time. 2. Konrad Hupfer. Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves. German Heer. Won both awards as a Hauptmann in Infantry Regiment 72, 46th Infantry Division. Died April 10, 1944. 3. Heinrich von Vietinghoff. General and recipient of the Knight's cross on June 24, 1940 as Lieutenant General and commander of the XIII Army Corps. Recipient of the Oak Leaves April 14, 1944 as Generaloberst and Commander in Chief of the 10th Army Corps. led the German XLVI Panzer Corps in the Invasion of Yugoslavia. Corps Commander in Operation Barbarossa, supreme German commander in Italy at the end of the war. 4. Friedrich Bauer. Knight's Cross for actions on 9/8/1943 as Battalion Commander of I. / 33rd Panzer Regiment, 9th Panzer Division. During Fighting for the Orel salient his force of 16 tanks fought 45 Russian tanks, destroying 25. He pursued the retreating Soviet tanks and destroyed five more. Postally used card.
