WWII Nazi German Polish General Government 1943 ID Identification Card Filled in & Photo - World War Two identification card printed in both Polish and German for a Polish man living in Lemberg - Lviv, Ukraine. in the Nazi German established Polish General Government. - Generalgouvernement. This card was issued to Joseph Lachowski on October 30, 1943 and was good for 5 years bearing a 10/30/1948 expiration date. It includes his photograph and fingerprints. The card was issued in the district office of Lviv City in the district of Galizien - Galicia. Joseph Lachowski was a Roman Catholic storekeeper. He was born in Zurawski, Poland on March 27, 1879. His fate after the issuance of this card is not known. This three part card measures 5.5” x 3.75” when folded and 5.5” x 11.25” when unfolded. The Polish General Government - Generalgouvernement was established after the Invasion of Poland in 1939. The former Poland was split into three zones; the Generalgouvernement in its center, Polish areas annexed by Nazi Germany in the west, and Polish areas annexed by the Soviet Union in the east. The land comprising the district of Galicia - Galizien was part of the land initially annexed by the Soviet Union in 1939. When Germany invaded the Soviet Union in 1941 - (Operation Barbarossa) those lands were taken from the Soviets and incorporated into the Generalgouvernement. In-house shipping is available.
