WWI Era U.S 48 Star Staggered Pattern Parade Flag - United States 48 star flag with the stars arranged in an eight-star, six-row, staggered row pattern. This pattern appears to have been in use up until 1918. Photographic documentation exists for use of the staggered row pattern flag through World War One but not afterwards. This flag is printed on muslin, measures 8” x 13” and is affixed to a 24” stick. The word ”MANN” is written on the reverse at the bottom fly end. There are no holes, tears, or fraying. The colors are still vibrant. This flag is in overall excellent to near mint condition. Please see lot 2137 for a larger version of this parade flag. The 48 star flag became official in 1912 with the admission of New Mexico and Arizona and remained the official flag until the admission of Alaska in 1959. There is damage in the lower left corner. Presidents Taft, Wilson, Harding, Coolidge, Hoover, Roosevelt, Truman, and Eisenhower all served under the 48 star flag. World War I, World War II, and the Korean War were all fought under it.
