The item is constructed from a rectangular pressed metal plate, finished in an off-white and red color scheme with black silkscreened text. The face is divided into three sections: the left panel features the company name, location, and the telephone number (216) 828-2242, noting the firm was established in 1859. The central section contains a glass tube filled with red liquid, mounted against a dual-temperature scale in Fahrenheit (ranging from -50 to 120) and Celsius (ranging from -40 to 50). The right panel lists covered perils, including fire, wind, lightning, hail, E.C. - V.&M.M., liability, and theft by a licensed carrier.
