Monmouth Pottery Illinois USA Stoneware Cookie Jug with Bark Effect Lid - A cylindrical stoneware storage vessel produced in Monmouth, Illinois. The body is constructed from speckled cream stoneware and features the words Cookie Jug hand-applied in dark brown cursive script across the front. The matching stoneware lid is finished in a high-gloss, dark brown metallic glaze with a molded chevron or bark-like texture radiating from the center. The lid is fitted with a large integrated handle and includes an original cork bung. The underside of the jar features a large, impressed mark in the shape of a maple leaf. The text inside the leaf is arranged with MONMOUTH following the left edge, ILL in the center, and USA on the right. Height: 7 1/2 inches Lid diameter: 5 3/4 inches.
