Schatz German Brass and Wood Ships Wheel Holosteric Compensated Barometer - A German aneroid barometer featuring a nautical ship's wheel design. The central barometer mechanism is housed in a polished brass case, which is mounted within a dark-finished wooden wheel frame featuring eight turned spokes. The circular white dial includes a central aperture that reveals the internal brass mechanical components. The upper section of the dial features scales for atmospheric pressure in inches of mercury (ranging from 28 to 31) and millibars (970 to 1040), with weather descriptors including STORMY, RAIN, CHANGE, FAIR, and VERY DRY. The inner curve of the dial is printed with the text HOLOSTERIC COMPENSATED BAROMETER. The lower section of the dial contains a curved, liquid-filled thermometer with dual scales for Celsius and Fahrenheit. The instrument is equipped with a black indicator hand and a brass-colored reference hand, which is adjustable via a center knob on the glass. The dial is marked with the cursive name Schatz and the base of the dial is printed MADE IN GERMANY. The reverse of the unit features a textured gold-tone backing plate with a small adjustment screw for calibration.
