Mary Kosmies Studio Stoneware Ribbed Vessel 1975 - A wheel-thrown stoneware cylindrical vessel or tall tumbler. The form features a slightly flared rim and is decorated with prominent horizontal ribbing around the lower two-thirds of the body. The piece is finished in a mottled tan glaze with a darker brown band encircling the upper section. Prominent dark brown iron spotting is visible throughout the glaze, characteristic of a salt or ash firing process. The interior is fully glazed in the same mottled tan color. The underside reveals a coarse, dark brown stoneware clay body. An incised cursive signature on the base reads Mary Kosmies and is accompanied by the number 75.
