Large American Albany Slip Glazed Stoneware Lug Handled Crock - A large American 19th-century stoneware crock featuring a cylindrical form and two applied horizontal lug handles. The vessel is finished with a dark, mottled brown-to-black slip glaze both on the interior and exterior. A single incised horizontal line is located just below the shoulder, encircling the crock. The rim is thick and rounded. The underside of the vessel is unglazed and displays concentric wire-cut marks from its removal from a potter's wheel. No maker's marks, capacity stamps, monograms, or other inscriptions are visible on the surface or base.
