1923-S United States Peace Silver Dollar - A 1923-S United States Peace silver dollar struck at the San Francisco Mint. The obverse depicts a left-facing profile of Liberty wearing a radiate crown, with the legends LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRVST and the date 1923 at the base. The reverse features a bald eagle perched on a rock inscribed PEACE, clutching an olive branch and looking toward the rays of a rising sun. The reverse legends include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and the denomination ONE DOLLAR. A small impressed letter S is present on the reverse, located below the eagle's tail feathers and above the letters O and N of the word ONE (photo 3, 4). This coin is struck in .900 fine silver and shows a heavy, uneven golden-yellow and amber toning or patina across both the obverse and reverse surfaces.
