A Pair of US Silver Mercury Dimes, 1938 and 1943-S - A pair of United States Mercury dimes, also referred to as Winged Liberty Head dimes, struck in 90% silver and 10% copper. The lot includes one 1938 issue from the Philadelphia Mint and one 1943-S issue from the San Francisco Mint. Each obverse features the Winged Liberty Head design with readable inscriptions LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and the respective dates 1938 and 1943. A small, incuse monogram AW is visible in the lower right field of the obverse on both coins. The reverse of each coin depicts a central fasces and olive branch with inscriptions reading UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ONE DIME, and E PLURIBUS UNUM. A raised S mint mark is clearly legible to the lower left of the fasces base on the 1943 example (photo 2). Both coins feature reeded edges.
