A Pair of Sterling Silver Weighted Salt and Pepper Shakers - A pair of footed salt and pepper shakers designed in a classical urn form. Each vessel features gadrooned fluting on the lower section of the body, tapering to a knopped stem and a circular foot. Decorative beaded or gadrooned borders adorn the shoulder and the rim of the base. The shakers are topped with domed lids featuring pierced holes and pointed finials. The lids are of the screw-on variety. The shakers are constructed of sterling silver over a weighted core. The underside of the base on both shakers features an impressed rectangular stamp reading PAT. PEND. in block letters, while the text STERLING WEIGHTED follows the curve of the base rim. Faint impressed numerical characters reading 615 are visible above the center stamp, but no manufacturer name is legible. Height: 5 inches.
