Bidspirit auction | A Pair of U.S. M1
A Pair of U.S. M1 Garand Leather Sniper Rifle Cheek Pads - This lot consists of two U.S. military leather cheek pads, also known as cheek risers, designed for use with the M1 Garand sniper rifle variants, including the M1C and M1D. Each pad is constructed from heavy brown leather with brass eyelets and includes leather lacing. The exterior of the leather features a black ink stamp reading MRT. The interior suede surface of the pads contains several black ink stamps including U S, MRT, and a date of 11-52, identifying these pieces as Korean War era equipment. Also visible is a Federal Stock Number prefix of FSN 7810. The MRT marking signifies Mildew Resistant Treatment, a standard military process for leather goods during the mid-20th century. The pads are designed to lace onto the rifle stock to provide proper eye alignment for the telescopic sight.
