1864 Middleton Chromolithograph of Abraham Lincoln - An 1864 chromolithograph of Abraham Lincoln done by E.C. Middleton and was one of many published by him. This appears to be the second version and is marked on the back Warranted Oil Colors. Entered according to Act of Congress, in the year 1864, by E. C. Middleton, in the clerk's office of the District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, Cincinnati. Abraham Lincoln himself wrote to Middleton approving of the portrait but not liking the area above the eyebrows, so this second version, known as the most popular image of Lincoln, was produced. On original stretcher, but has come loose around the top. Unframed. Has some small loss to the image at certain areas of the edge. Measures approx. 17” tall x 14” wide. All invoices must be paid within 24 hours of the sale. All items are shipped USPS or UPS and will be billed separately. A $12 handling fee is added to the shipping price per lot if shipped in house. Some items or large quantity of purchases will be packed and shipped via the UPS store. Local pickups are at our South Brunswick location on Friday, Saturday and Monday ONLY!
