JOSIGNACIO (Cuban, b. 1963), Large Painting - Monumentally important Cuban neo figurative painting by Josignacio. Plastic epoxy resin on canvas painting depicting dancers and musicians. Signed lower right by artist Josignacio (born Jose Ignacio Sanches-Ruis). Josignacio is widely regarded as one of the most important living Latin American contemporary artists. In 1984, according to Wikipedia, Josignacio ”created the 'Plastic Paint Medium' of art by mixing epoxy resins with oil colors and other pigments, resulting in a hard, glossed, 3D finish, a method which would become his identifiable style.” In 2016, a painting by Josignacio sold through a London auction gallery for over $3 million, setting a global record for the highest auction price ever paid for a living Latin American artist, as well as making Josignacio the first living Latin American artist to sell an artwork for over $3 million.
