Glen Kingsley's LTA-8 Badge & Patch - An ultra rare and original LTA-8 Mission patch and Access badge from the personal collection of Grumman Test Astronaut Glennon Kingsley. The primary purpose of the LTA-8 Thermo-Vacuum Testing was to assure that the LM maintained the proper environment for crew and equipment in the vacuum and temperature extremes of space, as would be experienced during an Earth Orbital Flight. NASA managers selected Astronauts James B. Irwin and John S. Bull as the Prime crew members to conduct the LTA-8 Tests and Grumman Pilot Glennon M. Kingsley and MSC Pilot Joseph A. Gagliano as back up to the Prime crew. All crew members wore the Apollo A6L Space Suits that were certified during vacuum chamber tests at MSC in January 1968. This is the third official mission patch to surface so these are extremely rare. This one comes with an official Mission Access badge, the only one I have ever seen. Both are in very good condition with wear from use during the program.
