Mrs. Robert Goddard Signed First Day Issue Cover - This cover is signed by Mrs. Robert Goddard. She was not only Dr. Goddard’s wife but also his Secretary and Archivist. It is accompanied by two great anniversary cards postmarked for the 50th Anniversary of his 1937 first successful Guided Missile Launch from Roswell, New Mexico. As I understand it, Dr. Goddard had several successful launches but this was the first launch using gimballed steering of the rocket motor instead of vanes to direct thrust. This lot also includes an information sheet on Dr. Goddard and his wife. All items are in excellent to near mint condition.
