Heidi Thompson, "Glorious Awakenings" acrylic painting on canvas. FMV of $4,500

Fair Market Value of $4,500.  Original acrylic painting on Canvas from Heidi Thompson. Titled "Glorious Awakening 2015.

This painting is about light, colour, movement and the dissolution of matter into energy. I am influenced by the reality of nature and how everything that appears solid is actually moving, changing, dissolving on a molecular level. I also feel that there is a light within all beings and I try to express this light shining through in my paintings.

Heidi Thompson's connection with Sveva Caetani:

"I met Sveva first when I was 17 when she gave to give a talk to our history class at VSS high school. Sveva emphatically stressed the importance of leaving Vernon and seeing the world. A few weeks later, I moved to Europe where I studied art for 8 years. Upon returning to Vernon, I visited Sveva and became her photographer. I documented her paintings as she completed over the next 10 years. I promised that I would publish her Recapitulation series into a book. I presented her my final book design on a Sunday and she was very pleased with the results, but could not imagine it ever being published. Three days later, Sveva passed away. Determined to realize the project, I continued and one year later in 1995, Recapitulation was in print. Sveva will always be my inspiration. Sveva stressed that one should always strive to reach their highest potential - whatever that may be. I have tried to follow her advice and am deeply grateful that she was an important person in my life.
