Bidspirit auction | Peter Keil Signed Mixed Media

Peter Keil Signed Mixed Media Portrait on Board, 20 x 15.25 in - Expressive mixed-media portrait on board, signed “Peter Keil” in black at the lower left. The vertically oriented composition presents a boldly delineated face rendered in sweeping black brushwork over a white ground, with energetic passages of yellow, turquoise, green, and red. The highly gestural treatment, exaggerated features, and vivid palette create a strong modernist presentation. The work measures 20 in. high by 15.25 in. wide (50.9 x 38.9 cm), unframed. The reverse is plain, uninscribed board. Visible paint handling includes opaque black strokes, more transparent colorful brushwork, and areas where the underlying white ground remains active in the composition. Offered unframed, allowing a buyer to select presentation suited to the work and interior. The signature is clearly visible in the supplied photographs; no date, title, edition information, gallery label, or other provenance documentation is visible. Accordingly, the work is catalogued as signed Peter Keil and should be evaluated by prospective buyers based on the photographs and available documentation. Peter Robert Keil was born in August 1942 in Züllichau I Pommern (now Poland). Peter Keil is a German artist that focuses primarily on abstract expressionism. Keil painted with some of the greats including Joan Miro, Pablo Picasso and Andy Warhol, to name a few.
