Bidspirit auction | Pair Japanese Black Lacquer Cabinets

Pair Japanese Black Lacquer Cabinets with Gilt-Tone Mounts - Pair of Japanese black lacquered wooden cabinets or storage chests, each raised on short legs and decorated with gilt-tone metal mounts. The larger cabinet has a stepped, lidded upper section and ornamental corner and central fittings; the second has a broad projecting top, gold-tone edging, and a large gold-tone character on its front. The character is visible but not confidently legible, and no maker's mark or date is apparent. Their coordinated black-and-gold palette and decorative hardware give the pair a formal Asian furnishing appearance. No dimensions or specific wood species are provided. Offered together as two pieces; the photographs do not establish whether they were originally made as a matching set. 2nd with Japanese Characters Dimensions: 1- 10 1/2 by 16 1/4 by 12 3/4in., 26.7 by 41.3 by 32.4cm. 2- 9 1/2 by 13 by 10in., 24 by 33 by 25.4cm.
