Stamped TABLE reader LOUIS XVI 18th Century Provenance Castel de Compiegne from France - An elegant Louis XVI style mahogany writing table, featuring a rectangular top with a central hinged panel that lifts to reveal an adjustable book rest. The frieze is fitted with two drawers, adorned with intricate brass escutcheons and pulls. The table stands on four fluted, tapering legs, each accented with a brass collar at the top and brass sabots at the feet. The construction exhibits fine craftsmanship, with visible dovetail joints on the drawer interiors. The underside of the top reveals a partially legible stamp, indicating it was made by a master cabinetmaker (ébéniste) in Paris who was a member of the Jurande des Menuisiers-Ébénistes.
