Arcadio Cancio ”Ethereal Field” Oil on Canvas Painting, Dated 1990 - An original oil on canvas painting by artist Arcadio Cancio, titled ”Ethereal Field,” and dated 1990. The artwork features a surreal composition with intertwined human forms and abstract elements in a predominantly blue and yellow palette. The signature ”ARCADIO CANCIO 90” is visible on the lower left front of the canvas. The reverse of the canvas is inscribed with the title ”ETHEREAL FIELD,” the medium ”OIL,” dimensions ”24” x 36””, the artist's name ”ARCADIO CANCIO,” and the date ”12-26/90”. This piece is presented in a simple wooden frame and exemplifies Cancio's distinctive style from the early 1990s. According to critics, the use of his figurative elements and the treatment of the color on his artworks, create patterns which traits impart them with a recognizable stroke of the brush. In his work, the artist talks to us with a very strong individual accent. Cancio started his formal art studies at the age of twelve at the Lyceum of Guanabacoa. One year later he contributed to the founding of the Elementary School of Arts Concha Ferrant in Guanabacoa. At age fourteen he enrolled in San Alejandro School of Fine Arts in Havana. He worked in Bohemia magazine as a caricaturist and 1lustrator until 1968 when he departed Cuba due to the political tensions and lack of liberties, which made impossible the artist's creation. Cancio has participated in more than one hundred exhibitions in the United States, Latin America, and Europe. At the present Cancio lives in Miami, where he has his studio.
