JAN PORTIELJE DUTCH ORIENTALIST FEMALE PORTRAIT PAINTING - An antique 19th-century Dutch or Belgian oil on beveled wood panel portrait, attributed to Jan Frederik Pieter Portielje (1829–1908). The finely rendered academic composition depicts an Orientalist female beauty gazing to her left, adorned in a vibrant red and gold headdress, a sheer white blouse, and elaborate gold coin jewelry including a necklace, earrings, and bodice adornments. The brightly illuminated figure is set against a dark, contrasting solid green background. The reverse of the panel features chamfered edges, hand-written pencil numbering, and the remnants of a red wax seal. While no artist signature is immediately visible on the painted surface, the work is housed in a heavily ornate, antique molded gesso frame that bears a brass nameplate reading ”Portielje” centered on the lower margin. 19th century art, Dutch school, Belgian painter, academic realism, exoticism, female beauty, antique panel painting, fine art, gold coin jewelry Dimensions Frame: 31 x 27 in. Images: 22 1/2 x 18 1/2 in. All measurements are approximate. Condition Visually fair to good condition. The wood panel is structurally stable.
