19TH C FRENCH EGYPTIAN REVIVAL BRONZE CUT GLASS CENTERPIECE - A spectacular 19th-century French Egyptian Revival gilt bronze (ormolu) and cut glass centerpiece (surtout de table). The removable, heavy cut-glass bowl features intricate diamond diapering and fan motifs, resting securely within a pierced anthemion gilt bronze gallery. The masterful ormolu stand is supported by three sweeping monopodia legs, each headed by a winged Egyptian caryatid wearing a traditional nemes headdress, terminating in animal paw feet upon a stepped triform base. The dramatic central standard features a coiled serpent wrapped around a pillar, rising to a small classical font.
