LARGE 19TH C. ROYAL VIENNA PORCELAIN PORTRAIT VASE URN - An impressive late 19th-century Austrian or Bohemian porcelain covered exhibition urn executed in the Royal Vienna style. The classical twin-handled baluster form is elaborately decorated with heavy raised gold imposto foliate scrollwork, geometric motifs, and gilded dolphin mounts against a richly paneled ground of burgundy, lilac, and pale blue. The front face features a finely hand-painted central rectangular reserve depicting a portrait of three children in period attire. The vase is fitted with a matching domed lid surmounted by an acorn finial and is elevated on a stepped porcelain pedestal mounted to an ornate cast-metal base. The piece utilizes traditional multi-part bolted construction typical of large exhibition ceramics from this era.
