LARGE FRENCH SEVRES ORMOLU BRONZE MOUNTED VASE - A monumental and magnificent late 19th-century French Sèvres porcelain and gilt bronze (ormolu) vase. The baluster-form body features a rich cobalt blue ground, lavishly decorated with raised gold paste foliate scrolls framing two large, hand-painted reserves. The obverse depicts a romantic courting scene in a classical garden, with cherubs holding a tablet reading ”Serment d'aimer toute sa vie” (Oath to love all one's life). The scene is signed ”Quentin” in the lower right. The reverse features a serene, bucolic river landscape. The vase is heavily mounted in exceptional gilt bronze, featuring intricate ram's head masks with drop rings, sweeping acanthus leaf handles, an ornate rim, and a substantial pierced plinth base.
