GARDNER IMPERIAL RUSSIAN PORCELAIN FIGURE PEASANT FAMILY - An Imperial Russian hand-painted biscuit porcelain group. Dated late 19th century. Modelled with a peasant mother dressed in a black overcoat and green and black polka dot headscarf steadying her intoxicated husband, with her child grasping at her skirt beside her, her husband clutching a bottle in one hand, his hat and shoe strewn on the ground beside him. Marked with a red overglaze hallmark. Gardner was the first Russian private porcelain manufacture, established in the 18th century.
