RARE RUSSIAN HAND CARVED HARDSTONE ACCORDION PLAYER - A meticulously crafted vintage Russian composite hardstone figurine, modeled in the iconic style of Peter Carl Fabergé's famous ”Russian Types.” The sculpture depicts a traditional Russian peasant resting his hands behind his head, with a miniature accordion (garmon) slung over his shoulder. The figure is masterfully assembled from a variety of distinct, highly polished semi-precious stones: a tunic of vibrant mottled lapis lazuli, trousers of grey banded agate, boots of black onyx/obsidian, and a face and hands of flesh-toned quartz. The detailed accordion is carved from green nephrite and pink rhodonite. The piece is finished with intricate, unmarked (but tested) silver and yellow gold trim, including a rope-twist belt, instrument detailing, and carrying straps. The figure rests on a stepped geometric base of contrasting hardstones.
