ANTIQUE FRENCH ORMOLU ENAMEL VANITY PERFUME CASKET BOX - An antique French gilt bronze (ormolu) and enamel cave à parfum or scent casket, dating to the mid-to-late 19th century. The lobed box is elevated on four cast rococo-style scrolled feet and features a black enamel ground decorated with green, gold, and white foliate motifs. The hinged, domed lid is centered by a large oval plaque depicting a hand-painted polychrome floral bouquet. The interior is lined with white silk and fitted with a velvet base containing two square recesses. These hold a pair of clear square glass perfume bottles, each fitted with a gilt bronze collar and a lid enclosing miniature under-glass architectural views of St. Petersburg, Russia, specifically the Alexander Column in Palace Square and the Peterhof Palace. The gilt bronze mounts retain a bright finish with light wear and minor oxidation typical of age. The enamel work is intact with vibrant colors. The central floral plaque and miniature architectural scenes are well-preserved under glass. Glass bottles and stoppers appear intact. The interior velvet and silk lining show moderate age-related wear.
