ANTIQUE RENAISSANCE REVIVAL SILVER PLATE TROPHY CUP - A large antique European silver-plated trophy cup. Dated 19th century. Renaissance Revival style. A twin-handled cup with domed lid surmounted by a cast figure of a standing warrior holding a spear and shield, above a lid decorated with radiating gadrooning and a band of acanthus scrollwork. The body is cast and chased overall in dense low-relief ornament depicting historicist battle scenes. The reverse shows a blank wreathed medallion, possibly intended for later engraving of a presentation inscription. The scenes are framed above and below by bands of palmette ornament.The cup is raised on a knopped, waisted stem and a spreading circular foot.
