ANTIQUE IMPERIAL RUSSIAN SILVER NIELLO CIGARETTE CASE 1871 - This Imperial Russian 84 zolotnik silver cigarette case, crafted in Moscow in 1871, features a distinctive wallet-style overlapping flap and tab closure. The obverse is decorated with a precision checkerboard niello pattern centering a circular vacant cartouche intended for a monogram. The reverse displays a finely engraved and nielloed architectural cityscape, depicting a prominent river embankment with sunrays overhead, possibly a view of St. Petersburg. The case's narrow sides are finished with wavy engine-turned engraving, and the interior retains its original gold wash.
