PAIR OF 19TH C FRENCH PORCELAIN SWAN VASES ATTR JACOB PETIT - An exceptional pair of antique French Vieux Paris (Old Paris) porcelain vases attributed to Jacob Petit (1796–1868), executed in his distinctive and highly decorative Rococo Revival manner, circa 1840-1860. Each vase features an elegant trumpet form resting upon a sculptural base prominently modeled with a swan emerging from scrolling acanthus leaves. The upper bodies are finished in a deep, nearly black ground, lavishly embellished with intricate gilt ornamentation and enamel jeweling. The fronts are centered by finely hand-painted floral reserves in vibrant polychrome. The sculptural bases provide a striking contrast, finished in a soft peach-pink tone with extensive gilding. Marks: Unmarked, as is common for Paris porcelain of this period. The porcelain bodies are structurally sound with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs to the delicate swan figures or rims. The hand-painted enamels are bright. The lavish gilding is incredibly well-preserved with only minor, age-appropriate rubbing on the highest touchpoints. The undersides exhibit normal, original in-the-making firing imperfections to the unglazed foot rims.
